Here’s what I believe is an 1897 Krag bayonet with scabbard, probably from the Spanish-American War. It’s marked “1897” on the blade, and “lNY143” on the belt clip on the scabbard. It’s covered in some gunk that I can’t identify.
If you happen to know anything at all about this blade, please comment! I’ve had it since I was a kid and I’d love to learn more about it.
What do u think it is worth?
That’s a good question, actually. I’m not really sure. I would guess about US$100. Do you have one, too?
It’s worth more like $200 or more depending on condition.
I have one exactly like this and was wondering the same, whats the value. Mine is in good condition.
I have one nearly identical to this. The base of the blade near the handle is stamped 1897 on one side and US on the other. The belt clip/scabbard has nothing on it. I’ve had mine since I was a kid. It was handed down to me from my grandfather who had it during his service in the Army in WWI.
